Rev. Jeff Johnsen – Senior Pastor
Jeff was appointed to Mt. Pisgah UMC in July, 2016. Jeff received his undergraduate degree from Wingate University, his Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry from Liberty University. He received the Harry Denman Evangelism Award in 1999 and The Culture of the Call Church Award in 2014. His previous appointments include Cherokee UMC in Cherokee, NC for 3 years, First UMC-Valdese in Valdese, NC for 6 years, and Denver UMC in Denver, NC for 14 years. He married Kristi Johnsen in 1993 and they have four children: Cody, Wyatt, Trey, and Sheyanne. His hometown is Clemmons, NC.
Rev. Donald Thomas – Associate Pastor
Donald joined the staff here at Mt. Pisgah April of 2009 and currently serves in the ministry areas of Evangelism, Fellowship, Missions and the Mount/the Mount Wednesday Praise and Worship Services. Upon coming to Mt. Pisgah, Donald answered the call to Pastoral Ministry attending Local Pastors School in May of 2010 and completing The Course of Study at Duke University July of 2014. Donald is married to Dianne Atkinson Thomas and they have two daughters, Khristi Thomas who graduated from East Carolina University and lives in Greenville, NC and Dr. Katie Knight who graduated from East Carolina University as well and who lives in Beaufort, NC along with her husband Evan and Grand Dog Lexie.
Pam Inman – Director of Operations & Administration
Pam has been the Director of Operations at Mount Pisgah since 2003. Pam is married to David E. Inman. They are the parents of Pete and Tonya Inman (Jessie, Sydney and great grandchild, Gabriel) and Laurie and Johnny Moore (Jake and Nate), who all live in Greensboro. They enjoy spending time with their family–especially the grandchildren, camping and making memories for them.
Amberly Johnston – Director of Music & Worship
Amberly is a native of DuBois, Pennsylvania. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Ithaca College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Amberly has performed with the Ithaca College Opera, UNCG Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Greensboro Opera, and Capital Opera of Raleigh, and has studied at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria as part of their Opera Studio program. At Mt. Pisgah, Amberly directs the Chancel Choir, Voices of Bronze Handbells, Cherub and Celebration Children’s Choirs, and the Greensboro Community Women’s Chorus. In her spare time she teaches private voice and piano lessons. She and her husband Pete enjoy traveling and walking their Maltese dog, Bella
Dana Hanlon – Director of Christian Education
Dana received her associate degree in Japanese language and culture as an exchange student at Nagasaki Wesleyan Junior College in Nagasaki Japan in 1987. She earned her undergraduate in religion and philosophy from Greensboro College in 1989. She also earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education and Youth Ministry from Pfeiffer University in 2000. She is the current president of the Western North Carolina Christians Engaged in Faith Formation (WNC CEF) organization. Dana was a presenter at the National CEF Conference in 2008. Her topic was “Families in Crisis, how to minister with, by and for them.” She is a trained trainer for Safe Sanctuaries in the WNCC and assists churches with developing their small group ministries. She fully believes in the connectional aspect of the United Methodist Church and tries to mentor other churches as needed. She has served as her local PTA President, Beautification Chair and Finance Secretary over the last 20 years. She has served at Irving Park UMC and Oak Ridge UMC and is excited to join the ministry staff at Mount Pisgah UMC. Dana married Bobby Hanlon in 1991. They have four children—Danny, who recently graduated with his master’s in architecture; Samantha, a senior at Pfeiffer University studying practical theology with a minor in missions in the world; Alyson, a high school senior; and Robbie, a high school sophomore. Bobby passed away in 2014 after a seven year battle with cancer. Dana is also a Guilford County foster parent.
Cody Johnsen – Director of Young Adult Ministries
Cody comes to Mount Pisgah as a recent graduate of Liberty University. He earned his degree in Business Communications and has sensed a calling and excitement for ministry. Cody began his ministry at Mount Pisgah on May 14th. However, his spiritual journey began much before that date. “I asked Jesus to be the Lord of my life when I was six years old. Then, I went on a Chrysalis flight the summer before my 9th grade year, through which I felt God calling me into a life of ministry. I recently graduated from Liberty University, where my faith walk was truly shaped and molded. I have a heart for young adults; not just that they know Christ, but that they would desire to seek a deeper understanding of Him.”
LuAnn Christy – Administrative Assistant
LuAnn attended Appalachian State University and has been employed with Mount Pisgah since June 1990. LuAnn is married to Mark Christy, and they have two children: Megan, a graduate of UNCG and Taylor, a senior at Rockingham County High School. Her hobbies include scrapbooking and Carolina basketball.
Dee Earl – Financial / Membership Secretary
Dee has served the Mount Pisgah congregation since 1997 as Financial/Membership Secretary. Dee is retired from AT&T Federal System Division, where she and her husband, James, met. They have one son, Brandon.
Allan Leach -Treasurer
Allan received his BSBA degree with a concentration in accounting from West Virginia University in 1972. He started his career in public accounting with Arthur Anderson & Co. He eventually left public accounting to work in private industry. He has held various accounting positions throughout his career and is currently the controller for Mac-Vann, Inc. He and his wife Cathy are members of Mount Pisgah UMC and raised their three children (Tanya, Kelly, and Matt) here. Allan has been active in the Church and United Methodist Men, holding various positions through the years.
